Telc German exams
Unlike the Goethe Institute, Telc specializes in language exams. In exam centers worldwide, you can take the Telc A1 exam up to the Telc C1 exam. Telc C1 Hochschule is very popular.
The Telc original exams are based on the common European reference framework for languages, just like the Goethe Institute, but differ slightly from the Goethe format. For this reason, the term "Telc Deutsch" refers to the level of German knowledge required to pass a Telc exam.
In our web portal, you will find various free test models from Telc A1 exam A1 to Telc B2 exam to prepare for all Telc tests. You can also use our free Telc exam online models alongside your current German course to further develop your language skills.
You can experience the difference between the Goethe format and the Telc format yourself by completing two different sample tests from Goethe and Telc. If, for example, you are interested in a German B2 exam, we recommend that you take the Telc B2 exam and the Goethe B2 exam. Then you can choose a test format that matches your language profile.
We also recommend that you use this difference to your advantage and also use these sample exams if you need more material for exam preparation or practice purposes.
What distinguishes Telc exams?
1. Telc offers language exams from A1 to C2 in Germany and worldwide. Like Goethe, its language exams are developed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Telc exams are developed internally and, unlike Goethe, are administered in cooperation with other institutions. Because Telc exams also assess the four language skills of reading, listening, writing, and speaking, they are recognized and valued by various organizations, especially german employers. They are also recognized by the German Federal Foreign Office as proof of language proficiency.
2. Telc offers various test formats for each language level. In addition to standard language tests, Telc offers exam formats for children, professionals, school students, and medical personnel.
3. Dual exams are particularly interesting at Telc. Dual exams are single exams for two levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. For example, if you take a Telc A2/B1 exam, you can obtain either the Telc A2 or Telc B1 certificate, thus saving you from having to take a separate language test.

Telc develops its German exams according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, although its format differs from Goethe and ÖSD.
